SchoolJournalism.org launched today with brand new content for secondary school journalism advisers and students.  SchoolJournalism.org is the newest offering from the Youth Journalism Initiative of the American Society of News Editors. The website, which replaces hsj.org and my.hsj.org, offers resources and lesson plans for teachers and contests and tools for students.

Journalism teachers and advisers can find information on varied subjects relating to journalism, including news and media literacy, writing and technology. Comprehensive lists of training opportunities and lesson plans provided by teachers from across the country are also available.

SchoolJournalism.org offers fun and engaging educational opportunities for students. They can enhance their journalism and technology skills, learn about workshops and camps, and research college and scholarship opportunities. They can also apply for a spot on ASNE’s Youth Journalism Initiative Advisory Board and be the voice of youth journalism.

One of the most exciting features of SchoolJournalism.org is the introduction of ASNE’s new Youth Journalism Initiative contests. Students have the chance to win prizes and get their work published on the site by entering their stories, photos, videos or infographics into weekly writing, photography, video and multimedia contests, as well as monthly writing contests.

Visit SchoolJournalism.org and take a look around. There are many opportunities for interaction, including polls, social media links and a calendar of upcoming events. Teachers and students can join to get free email updates. Schools can add their publications to the School News Hub.
