Discerning between fact and opinion
Each week, the Center for News Literacy at Stony Brook University posts a news literacy lesson. The center’s “Lessons of the Week” section is a great place to go for news literacy teaching and discussion tips and ideas. This week’s lesson, “Discerning between Fact and Opinion through Commentary,” examines the differences between news and opinion, and how to distinguish between journalism, opinion journalism and un-supported opinion and perspectives.
