Multimedia and Managing Websites Lesson – Day Two

TARGET
Students will understand the role that smartphones play in journalism and various apps that can help with backpack journalism.

- Level 1 (Basic) understanding of media asset management
- Level 2 (Proficient) generation of a software management system based on individual research

- Multimedia Management PowerPoint Day 2
- Compare/Contrast/Consider Sheet
VERIFICATION
Steps to check for student understanding
- Teacher will do frequent comprehension checks in the form of Classroom Assessment Techniques (thumbs up, thumbs down; exit slip in the form of post-it note summary).
- This module will include a heavy amount of independent work and research. The teacher will act as a facilitator but will also benefit from research and contribution to the assets list that will be created throughout this unit for future use.
FLOW OF LESSON
- Suggested bell ringer: What is the one app that you cannot live without?
- Teacher will present the PowerPoint. THE LAST SLIDE OF THE POWERPOINT SHOULD NOT BE SHOWN UNTIL AFTER THE COMPARE/CONTRAST/CONSIDER ORGANIZER IS DISTRIBUTED.
- Teacher will give distribute the Compare/Contrast/Consider organizers.
- The websites for the project management software are on the last slide. They are recommended by the professors at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
- The teacher should also consider this an opportunity to research the three suggested project management software. If the teacher has a preferred project management software program that can be substituted, add that to list.
