First Lady to visit China March 19-26: U.S. students can ask her questions about the country
First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to China this month and is giving U.S. students the opportunity to follow along online and ask questions. Obama’s trip will focus “on the power and importance of education.” Click here to submit questions and to receive updates throughout the weeklong trip.
The White House has also set up a blog, which can be accessed by students and classrooms across the country. In her first post, Obama highlighted the importance of learning about and connecting with people across the world. Aside from visiting Chinese schools and universities, Obama will also visit historical and cultural sites in China.
“It’s critically important that young people like you learn about what’s going on not just here in America, but around the world. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, soon, all of you will be leading the way,” she said.
Along with the White House, PBS Learning Media and Discovery Education will provide engagement opportunities and resources “that explore the culture, geography, current events and people of China,” according to a White House press release.
